Description
Materials related to Hilltop Elementary School and its predecessor, Dakota County Common School District #103, before it was dissolved and joined to ISD 199 in 1957. The first District 103 school, sometimes stylized Hill Top, was located on the eponymous hill along the Middle Road (present-day Cahill Avenue), near present-day Upper 76th Street East.
The original schoolhouse, built in the 1880s, was closed in 1957 and students sent to the newly-built Pine Bend School. The building itself was sold in 1962, and the hill later graded and redeveloped.
A new Hilltop Elementary was built in 1965 at its present-day location on 68th Street East, with subsequent additions including an Early Learning Center.
