Summer 2024: ISD 199 History Project

Blogs written under this heading, the ISD 199 History Project, are part of a Summer 2024 project funded by a Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grant.

That proposal, written by Independent School District 199 superintendent Dave Bernhardson, provided ISD 199 the funds to gather, organize, and digitize the history of public schools in present-day Inver Grove Heights. We hope, too, to eventually produce an installation on ISD 199 history for space in Simley High School.

Work began on July 1, 2024, with Bernhardson and historian Cory Haala (Simley '09) beginning to sift through old historical records in ISD 199 storage. We plan to keep you updated, informally, through this blog and other ISD 199 media through the summer and look forward to inviting the Inver Grove Heights community to participate in this process very soon.

In the meantime, please enjoy some of these old findings from the records of ISD 199 and its predecessors!

To read all the blog updates, hover over the "Blog" title in the menu to your left, then the "Summer 2024" subheader to see each installation. If you're on mobile, tap the "+" in the menu bar to reveal the blog series, and the "+" again to reveal the posts within that series!
